117. Chess

In this course, students will be introduced to the game of chess.  Students will learn how the pieces move, basic rules, and basic strategy.  By the end of the course students will be able to play interesting, fun, and engaging games.


Students will be expected to complete small assignments in between classes to help learn the material.  Points will be awarded for good performance and completion of the assignments, which can be exchanged for prizes.


Resources and educational materials will be available for purchase including extra puzzles, the curriculum, guides for parents, and more!  Parents can purchase the entire resources package for $30.


Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate and trophy, and be eligible to take more advanced courses.
